1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing our website or purchasing our products and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

2. Our Services

L.I.F.F.E. (Local Initiative for Future Earth) provides:

  • Residential and commercial food scrap collection services

  • Compost and soil products for purchase

  • Soil testing and permaculture consulting services

  • Educational workshops and community programs

3. Service Area

Our food scrap collection service is currently available in select areas of Harford County, Maryland, including Jarrettsville, Forest Hill, Street, Pylesville, Fallston, and Bel Air. We reserve the right to modify our service area at any time with reasonable notice to existing subscribers.

4. Subscription Service

Billing

  • Collection service subscriptions are billed monthly

  • Your first month is free — billing begins in month two

  • Payment is due on the same date each month following your signup date

  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe

Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your customer account or by contacting us directly

  • There are no cancellation fees

  • Cancellations made after your billing date will take effect at the end of the current billing period

Pausing Service

  • You may request a temporary pause in service by contacting us directly

  • Pause requests must be made at least 48 hours before your scheduled pickup day

Missed Pickups

  • If we are unable to complete a scheduled pickup due to weather, emergency, or other circumstances beyond our control, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule

  • Credits or refunds for missed pickups are at our discretion

5. Collection Guidelines

By subscribing to our collection service, you agree to:

  • Only place approved materials in your collection bucket

  • Keep your bucket accessible on your scheduled pickup day

  • Not place hazardous materials, chemicals, glass, metal, or plastic in your bucket

  • Rinse your bucket between pickups when possible

  • Return the collection bucket if you cancel your subscription

We reserve the right to suspend service if guidelines are repeatedly not followed.

6. Compost Products

  • All sales of compost and soil products are final unless the product arrives damaged or defective

  • Product availability may vary by season

  • Bulk orders require a separate quote and agreement

  • L.I.F.F.E. makes no guarantee of specific nutrient content beyond our standard testing practices

7. Payments and Refunds

  • All prices are listed in U.S. dollars

  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers

  • Refunds for product orders will be considered on a case-by-case basis — contact us within 7 days of your order

  • Subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing cycle has begun, except at our discretion

8. Limitation of Liability

L.I.F.F.E. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services or products. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service or product in question.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, and design — is the property of L.I.F.F.E. and may not be reproduced without written permission.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Harford County, Maryland.
